2018 Outstanding Corporate Citizenship Awards Application

Below are the descriptions of the Awards categories, and criteria upon which each award will be judged. Awards finalists and winners are determined by an independent selection panel and will be announced at the awards in June.

Awards Criteria

Outstanding Corporate Citizen of the Year 

Presented to a DC metro region business for outstanding contributions during the past year to employees and the community. The company has been a longtime advocate for the community and has a longstanding reputation for above-and-beyond corporate social responsibility efforts. Special consideration will be given to applicants that demonstrate collaboration, with other businesses, non-profits, or government, in their corporate social responsibility efforts. This award recognizes excellence in corporate social responsibility, particularly as it relates to the DC metro region.

  • Large business – more than 500 employees in the DC Metro region
  • Mid-Size business – between 101-500 employees in the DC Metro region
  • Small business – 100 or less employees in the DC Metro region

* DC Metro region defined as north of Richmond, south of Baltimore, east of the Chesapeake and west of the Shenandoah. 

Executive Leader of the Year
Presented to a DC metro region executive for outstanding contributions to his or her company and above-and-beyond leadership in the community during the past year. This individual has been a longtime advocate for the community and has a longstanding reputation for encouraging community involvement in his or her company and beyond. Special consideration will be given to applicants that embody the spirit of collaboration, with other businesses, non-profits, or government, in corporate social responsibility efforts. This award recognizes those efforts that particularly impact the DC metro region.

Emerging Influential of the Year
Presented to an emerging influential (40 years old or younger) for exceptional leadership and outstanding contributions to the community during the past year. This individual represents innovation and embodies how business success and community involvement go hand-in-hand. This award recognizes those efforts that particularly impact the DC metro region.

Non-Profit of the Year
Presented to a DC metro region non-profit for outstanding and visionary contributions to the community during the past year. Special consideration will be given to applicants who demonstrate excellence in collaboration, with businesses, other non-profits, or government, in their corporate social responsibility efforts. This award recognizes community impact, particularly as it relates to the DC metro region.

Public Sector of the Year
Presented to a DC metro region government agency, academic institution, advocacy organization, commission or government entity for outstanding and visionary contributions to the community during the past year. Special consideration will be given to applicants who demonstrate excellence in collaboration with businesses, non-profits, or governments, in their corporate social responsibility efforts. This award recognizes community impact, particularly as it relates to the DC metro region.
