Like any new year, 2015 will have its fair share of uncertainty and turmoil which often breeds opportunity. The volatility in global energy markets make it more important than ever to stay well informed on the state of economics and opportunity in the MENA region. Economic activity ahead of World Expo 2020 in Dubai and Qatar's FIFA World Cup 2022 has the potential to mitigate declining oil prices, thanks to long term investments from the private and public sectors. All of the countries in the GCC at this juncture are staying the course with big budget announcements aimed at diversifying their economies and boosting employment opportunities for locals. Spending on transport systems, logistics, utilities, healthcare, manufacturing and downstream industry all represent access points for U.S. companies. |
MEED Projects reports about $27 trillion worth of projects are planned or underway in the GCC region. |
In North Africa, Tunisia has successfully transitioned to a democracy earning its place as Country of the Year from the Economist and encouraging profiles in the New York Times, Financial Times and National Geographic among others. |
Bravo Tunisia! |
