Urgent Update: Date and Hotel Change for 2012 Community Schools National Forum
Dear Community School Stakeholders:
We want to inform you about an extremely important development concerning the Community School 2012 National Forum. Due to an ongoing labor dispute between the Hyatt Regency San Francisco (where the Forum was originally scheduled to meet) and the UNITE HERE Local 2, which represents the hotel’s workers union, the Coalition Steering Committee unanimously decided to move the Forum to the Marriott Marquis in San Francisco.
The change in venue to the Marriott necessitated a change in the dates for the Forum. The National Forum will now formally begin with a reception and dinner on Wednesday, May 9th and conclude at 11:30am on Saturday, May 12th. Preconference sessions will be held on Wednesday, May 9th.
The Coalition for Community Schools' Steering Committee deeply regrets any inconvenience that this change causes. However, as the labor dispute will materially affect attendance and the quality of the Forum and therefore our ability to hold a successful conference (many of our members and scheduled conference speakers will not cross the picket lines), the Steering Committee strongly believes that moving the conference to the Marriott is the necessary and appropriate decision for the Coalition.
We very much look forward to seeing you at the National Forum in San Francisco in May.
Sincerely,
Coalition for Community Schools, Institute for Educational Leadership
