Extensive work at Niagara Falls (Continued)


Remediation site work is also complete on the Police Station original site; a second site for the Police Station is in the bid-award phase. Work for the new Police Station is anticipated to start soon and will run for a year. The Comfort Station Plaza and the Copper Roof Replacement at the Administration Building is substantially complete. The Comfort Station, Toll Booths and Parking Lots 1 and 2 projects are complete. The renovations to the Cave of the Winds Plaza including Stedman’s Bluff, and Entrance Plaza have begun. Terrapin Point Renovations have been awarded and work will begin shortly. The Pavilion Building and Exhibition space, Terrapin Point Phase 2 and Parkwide Signage are in the final phases of design with bids anticipated at the end of 2015/early 2016. Keep an eye on DASNY’s website for these bid opportunities.

More Parks Projects in the Works
Demolition and abatement of the Kenan Castellani Building located at DeVeaux Wood Park is complete with a project budget of $3.7 million. The Letchworth State Park Nature Center has begun and will continue through next year; this project is estimated at $4.2 million.

The Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (OPRHP) also used DASNY to manage a Playground Construction project at Buffalo Harbor State Park. Buffalo Harbor State Park Breakwater and Revetment project are in the bid/award phase. The Buffalo Harbor State Park projects are estimated to total $10 million. The 2015-16 enacted budget extended DASNY’s authority to provide construction and related services to the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) and OPRHP for two years. DASNY looks forward to continuing our work with Parks and DEC to improve vital social infrastructure that benefits all New Yorkers.
