Why Should We Celebrate Presidents’ Day?

When I was a kid, we were always told that the great thing about being an American is that anyone can grow up to be president, and in fact, it was an aspiration of many of my friends. I remember my friend Susan said she was going to be the first female president.

Book and Free Curriculum
Dream of a Nation, a book and project focused on solutions to social, environmental and economic issues has free resources for teachers. The book and curriculum resources (which are aligned with the Common Core and state standards) are available at dreamofanation.org/educators. They also have a limited number of free classroom sets of the book plus the cost of shipping and handling.
New Continuing Education Opportunity
Earn a certificate in school leadership for social-emotional learning and character development through a new series of three online courses offered by Rutgers University and the College of Saint Elizabeth. The first course will launch in March. SEL101: Research and Innovations in Social-Emotional Learning and Positive School Culture and Climate.
The courses are intended for individuals across professions who are in leadership or leadership team roles within schools at any stage of implementing school-wide SEL, character education, school culture and climate improvement, or related approaches. Email for more information >>
