Resources to expand for leading specifications advancements

July 14, 2014 - AUSTIN, TX – Fiatech is pleased to announce that Construction Sciences
Research Foundation, Inc. (CSRF) has officially come aboard and will enhance Fiatech’s
Design Roadmap Element by expanding the resources for leading specifications advancements
in a broader Construction Communications initiative.

CSRF is a construction industry research organization dedicated to unifying and integrating
communication between programs and design/communications processes used in facilities
design and construction.

Fiatech is a global community of passionate stakeholders working together to drive productivity
and efficiency improvements in the capital projects industry through the advancement of
technology and innovative practices. This onboarding has expanded Fiatech’s membership
by an additional fourteen organizations and the operations headquarters will remain in

CSRF has been a long-standing member of Fiatech, working on design initiatives to automate
specification production through XML schema. This Fiatech/CSRF project led to the development
of the SpecWave® XML document management program which was advanced by The
Engineering Essentials Corporation (TEEC) then acquired and commercialized by the
Bentley Corporation.

On making the decision to become part of Fiatech, effective May 2014, CSRF outlined the most
compelling reasons as: the natural shared technical interests, continuing connections both have
with member firms, alliances and councils, and having a more prominent position to help shape
Fiatech operations and future projects.

According to Fiatech Director, Ray Topping, CSRF Executive Director, Garry Zettersten, has
agreed to join the staff as a senior project manager. Topping added, “We are delighted to have
the members of CSRF become part of Fiatech. We have shared a common interest to advance
the automation of specifications and look forward to advancing the progress we have made with
our CSRF Construction Communications initiative.”

Speaking on behalf of CSRF, Allen Wright, President, said, “The joining of CSRF with Fiatech is
bringing a group of new members who will provide additional skills and perspective in improving
information communication in construction. I expect the path forward with this expanded team will
develop new methods and tools that will assist the industry and Fiatech members”.
