On November 5, DASNY President Gerrard P. Bushell was an honored guest at the Buildings & Infrastructure Seminar hosted by Professional Women in Construction. Gerrard discussed the breadth of DASNY’s business and the numerous opportunities to work with us, reiterated our commitment to increase opportunities for women-owned and minority-owned firms statewide, explained the many ways DASNY projects and programs are central to Governor Cuomo’s economic development agenda, and highlighted how private and public organizations in NYC can benefit from partnering with DASNY. Gerrard encouraged attendees to reach out to DASNY so that we can work together.

Thank you to Professional Women in Construction and to the event's sponsors for an engaging and productive evening. If you have an interest in working with DASNY, please contact us at: DASNYInfo@dasny.org.

On September 24, the Barrier Free Living Apartments opened their doors to families in need. The $42 million project in the Bronx consisted of two buildings containing 120 new apartments in a supportive environment. DASNY provided construction services to the project sponsor, the New York State Homeless Housing and Assistance Corporation. This project perfectly encapsulated the critical importance of what DASNY does: “every project and program we deliver has direct, tangible, and meaningful impacts on people all across the State.”

CUNY
On October 22, DASNY closed on the sale of $936 million in New York State Sales Tax Revenue Bonds. The bonds were sold on a competitive basis in three tranches. This approach encourages aggressive bidding, resulting in favorable rates for the State. Standard & Poor’s assigned the Sales Tax Revenue Bonds their highest rating, AAA, while Fitch rated the bonds AA+. This was a new money deal to finance CUNY facilities, SUNY Upstate Community College facilities, Library Facilities grants, Dedicated Highway & Bridge Trust Fund projects, and transportation initiatives.

Happy_ThanksGiving15

DASNY is New York’s principal builder of social infrastructure. Our work serves to improve the lives of thousands of New York State families. As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, we are thankful for what we have and mindful of the less fortunate and how we may help promote the safety and well-being of our most vulnerable residents. I am grateful to be able to contribute to this effort.

Happy Thanksgiving,

Gerrard P. Bushell
