» MARS ROVER
By making information more readily available to field staff, this project forecasts providing construction project site and facilities operations and management productivity, efficiency, quality and safety improvements. The project will apply vision-based localization techniques to locate and track the position and orientation of handheld users on construction sites and within facilitates in order to support real-time access to project information and enable site documentation in 3D. The MARS ROVER Project is now in its initial stage. Read more
Voice of the Owner
The tendency to approach projects in a segmented and Owner specific way creates a landscape where common challenges and expectations may go unrecognized. In response, Fiatech launched VoO to facilitate peer-to-peer Owner sharing of approaches and perspectives on how to bridge gaps between frontend project planning and project execution. Read more
Fiatech’s Project Delivery Practices
Leveraging the best practices of Fiatech members, many of whom are global, leading project delivery firms, the Fiatech Projects Committee, led by Frank Matthewson of Bechtel, has developed strong and efficient project delivery practices for planning, organizing, managing and delivering projects. Central to Fiatech’s mission, members receive immense value from project business intelligence before it is shared with the industry at large. Read more

» Structural Steel Interoperability for the Building and Process Plant Industries (SSI)
Enhanced workflows have been developed to allow steel detailers to design/detail final steel structure layout. This enhanced workflow process is forecasted to produce significant schedule savings, reduce lifts/day during construction, produce up to 3% less misfits and provide up to 10% savings in erection tonnage. » Exploring Piping Management through Project Information Flow (PIF)
“A world without isometrics” is the objective of this project. We’re exploring the usage of existing piping data exchange tools (PCF, ISO 15926) to achieve smooth piping data flow from design to construction, and ultimately to owner/operator handover. This process will reduce Design Time, Fabrication and Construction Time and improve the efficiency and accuracy of handover. Read more
» Equipment Performance Management and the Use of ISO 15926
The Equipment Performance Management and the Use of ISO 15926 Report summarizes the methods, challenges, and results from the Harmonizing Industry Standards to Exchange Equipment Data (HEED) project of the Fiatech consortium. The HEED project investigated the use of electronic data exchange to support and integrate the processes and software applications used for performance management and margin management in mechanical systems. This report includes recommendations for improvements in the ISO 15926 template process, extensions to the RDL to support equipment margin management, and simplifications in ISO 15926 data structures.
