| Greetings! It has been a very busy and exciting second quarter with a series of workshops offered in North Philly, Bala Cynwyd and another in the Northeast in the Tacony section of the city! During this quarter we took the time to celebrate our past accomplishments at our Annual FinanciallyHers Day – for those of you who could not join us, please enjoy the pictures and video. We also have some good news to share on the funding front with recent awards from the Brook J. Lenfest Foundation and the New Jersey Coalition for Financial Education. Of course I believe strongly in the program, but I want you to know that our members have some powerful things to say as well! Click below to hear just what they have to say! I also want to remind you that you’re welcome to come out and see the workshops and the women first-hand. Also, you are welcome to come see the workshops first-hand. Click here for the list of upcoming workshops and just let me know which one(s) you would like to attend. Happy Summer!

| Brand New - Center City Lunch 'n' Learn Series We are very excited to be offering for the first time a four week "Working Woman" lunch-time series this summer beginning July 12th! The classes will be offered out of our Center City Philadelphia office and we hope to attract the many women who work downtown. To further encourage participation, we are asking the women to bring their lunches and we will provide drinks and dessert. Participants will learn how to create a meaningful (and manageable) budget as well as the importance of teaching financial responsibility to their children and how to get kids started on the right track.
This promises to be a fun and informative series! If you know someone who is interested, they can visit our website to register.
NJCFE Mary O'Neill Mini-Grant Last fall the program was awarded the New Jersey Financial Coalition for Financial Education (NJCFE) Mary O’Neill Mini-Grant to conduct 10 workshops in New Jersey. We partnered with two non-profit agencies in New Jersey to offer these workshops, Providence House and Women’s Opportunity Center (WOC). Providence House is committed to assisting women who have been affected by domestic violence and WOC works to help displaced women gain economic self-sufficiency. Over the course of several months during the spring of 2011, more than 60 women participated. We are grateful to NJCFE for supporting us and giving us the opportunity to help so many women in the state of New Jersey. Click here to see pictures of the dedicated staff from both of these organizations (for confidentiality reasons we could not take pictures of the women).Joy McManus W ins First Ever Financial Education Idol Joy McManus, FinanciallyHers Program Manager, beat out six other financial educators to become the first ever Pennsylvania Financial Education Idol. The award was given by the Pennsylvania Office of Financial Education as p art of their 5th Annual Common Wealth Symposium (May 17-18) in Grantville, PA. The symposium was attended by over 100 financial educators from across the state as well as human resource professionals and financial advocates from both the state and federal level. Joy presented an abbreviated version of “Raising Money-Savvy Kids”, the newest addition to the FinanciallyHers program. Conference attendees voted to decide the idol winner and Joy was recognized at the closing ceremony. Click here to view pictures of the event. Plenty to Celebrate at FinanciallyHers Day As many of you already know, our 3rd Annual FinanciallyHers Day, held Saturday, April 30th, was a tremendous success! Over 80 FinanciallyHers members, guests and partners joined CCCS staff to recognize our members, thank our partners and staff and celebrate the past year’s achievements. Our guest speaker, Ms. Renee Amoore, prominent local business-woman and entrepreneur, was nothing short of phenomenal. Attendees also enjoyed two “mini-workshops”, one on being organized and the other on “dressing for less”. We learned 10 secrets to living an organized life and were also treated to a “mini-fashion show”!
FinanciallyHers members who attained 10 hours or more of financial education over the past year each received an award and were treated to a personal congratulation from Ms. Amoore and Patty Hasson, CCCS President. We are already looking ahead to next year's event. We welcome recommendations for a keynote speaker and workshop presenters as well as sponsorships!
