Mentoring 3

Dear ExampleContactFirstName,

We are excited to announce that the ASIS National Capital Chapter will be participating in ASIS International's
"Mentoring Security Leaders" program. This program, which has been successfully piloted at six ASIS chapters over the course of two years, is designed to match experienced security professionals with individuals who are new to the industry or those looking to advance into leadership positions.

The mentors are asked to share their experiences and advice on career advancement, professional visibility, networking, and overcoming barriers to career success. The protégé will gain knowledge and experience in meeting immediate business-level requirements. This program is for members at all levels in their careers who may want some specialized insights into a particular skill, competency, change in industry sector, or even a transition to a different role in the industry.

The "Mentoring Security Leaders" program is a process where an ASIS member (Protégé) is matched with an experienced ASIS colleague (Mentor), and is designed to promote long term leadership and career development through a one-on-one Mentor-Protégé relationship. If you are a young professional, a woman in the security industry or someone who is making the transition from the public to the private sector this program may be for you.

Any ASIS member, at any job level may participate in the program. Depending on the experience level of the Protégé within the security industry and areas of interest, the Mentoring Program will match up the Protégé and Mentor.  We specifically designed the program so that it does not require a huge time commitment.

This year we are planning on kicking off the Mentoring Program in late August with an Event where matched Mentors and Protégé's will have an opportunity to meet face-to-face before the mentoring relationship begins. The Kickoff Event will also have a keynote speaker.  More information will be coming soon.

If you are interested in becoming a mentor or protégé, please fill out the appropriate attached Mentor/ Protégé Application Assessment and associated Readiness Assessment and submit to Christian Conroy at cconroy@skillsdmo.com by August 8th. If you are contemplating either role and need more information, feel free to email your questions to Christian.
