Linda O

Welcome

We have had a dynamic start to our 2014 events program with presentations encompassing environmental architecture, student performances and the new privacy laws.

Our next round of events will feature presentations on Healthy Communities, the Griffith Archive and the Gold Coast Campus Master Plan. We are also working with our fabulous Arts, Film and Music schools to bring you some must see presentations.

It also gives me great pleasure in this issue to introduce the Friends of the Library Advisory Board. Our Advisory Board members are passionate supporters of 'Friends' and provide their expertise and support in developing our program and member benefits.

Your feedback is appreciated and I encourage you to share your thoughts at friends-library@griffith.edu.au. I look forward to seeing you at our next Friends of the Library event.

Griffith Film School takes Cannes

Young Australian filmmakers were out in force at this year's Cannes International Film Festival, after 10 student productions from the Griffith Film School were selected for screening in the Short Film Corner.
The Festival marked the fifth year Griffith Film School has been invited to participate and according to Professor Herman Van Eyken, it is an opportunity for the next generation of filmmakers to make connections that may launch a coveted international career. Jordan Lawrence

In Touch: Jordan Lawrence

Since we last saw him paying homage to Paul Simon in our April presentation of Masters & Slaves, Griffith student Jordan Lawrence has released his debut single We've Got Love to critical acclaim. Juggling his studies by day and his love of music by night, the accomplished folk singer-songwriter has performed alongside his School of Humanities peers in both the 2014 and 2013 Masters & Slaves events. Jordan's debut EP Days on the Rock Face is scheduled for release later this year. You can follow Jordan's music under his stage name Calan Mai on his Facebook page.
