The conference also has invited Governor Matt Mead to address attendees regarding his vision for Wyoming.  Governor Mead's address will be followed by a panel discussion with Wyoming’s most influential and progressive legislators and educators. The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Mark Elgart, President/CEO of AdvancED.  The topic of the panel discussion is the impact of recent accountability legislation on education in Wyoming.

This conference marks a new chapter in AdvancED Wyoming's School Improvement conferences.  Come see what's new!   We are expecting a record number of attendees and hope that you are among them.  To learn more and to register, visit our conference Web site.  We look forward to seeing you in Cheyenne!

A New Generation of Standards & Protocol

The AdvancED Wyoming Fall School Improvement Conference will provide Wyoming educators a first look at AdvancED's revised standards and accreditation protocol. The new standards become effective for the 2012-2013 school year. Duplication has been reduced and rigor has been increased.

The AdvancED accreditation protocol will be changing effective school year 2012-2013.  All districts and schools in the state of Wyoming should become familiar with the new AdvancED Wyoming accreditation protocol now in order to be prepared when it is time for their Quality Assurance Review (QAR) visit.
Training about the new standards and new protocol will take place at our Fall School Improvement Conference, October 3-4, 2011.  AdvancED Wyoming will provide accredited districts and schools with the tools and resources necessary to smoothly transition to the new standards and protocol. If you have questions, please feel free to contact our office.

ASSIST is Re-shaping School Improvement

AdvancED Adaptive System of School Improvement Support Tools (ASSIST) is the future of school improvement.  ASSIST, already launched in Wyoming, allows schools and districts to gain a better understanding of school improvement efforts.  It joins a world-class array of knowledge resources, practical implementation tools with interactive screens to create a fully integrated web-based system.  ASSIST allows schools and districts to gain a better understanding of past successes and opportunities and confidently build and implement a solid, research-based plan for the future.

Training to use ASSIST will be provided at the Fall School Improvement Conference in Cheyenne on October 3-4, 2011.  You also may access training webinars and PowerPoint presentations at our AdvancED Wyoming Web page. We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity to re-shape school improvement.

School and District Improvement Plans Due

November 1 marks the date that all school improvement plans (except those schools that have a QAR visit scheduled prior to November) are due to be submitted to AdvancED Wyoming using ASSIST.  Wyoming schools were the first in the nation to use ASSIST, so this should make it fairly easy to update your plans.

Also, all districts that are scheduled to be visited by AdvancED Wyoming next school year (2011-2012) are required to submit their district improvement plans using ASSIST.  The district school improvement plan should be submitted four weeks prior to the scheduled QAR visit.  Schools that are scheduled for a QAR visit as part of the district’s QAR visit should submit their updated school improvement plans four weeks prior to the visit if the visit is scheduled prior to November.  If you have questions, please contact our office.
