Weekly Thursday Webinar Series Launches in November

PRO-DAIRY in partnership with DairyBusiness East is launching a weekly webinar series each Thursday from 1 to 2 pm EST. Registration is not required. Click on the Dairy Webinars section on PRO-DAIRY's website to join. A weekly schedule is also available online.

The first speaker on November 19 is:

  • Heather J. Huson, PhD Cornell University Assistant Professor, Animal Geneticist

Her topic is: Genetics on the Farm

Genetic technology and research has advanced tremendously over the past few decades with the dairy cattle industry leading the genetic revolution for livestock. However, the abundance of information can be daunting to farmers who are the end users of genetic evaluations and health reports. Dr. Huson will provide an overview of the type of genetic data available and basic steps for understanding and applying genetic data in farm management.

Start Untangling the 2016 Economy at the Agricultural & Food Business Outlook Conference

The annual Dyson School Agricultural and Food Business Outlook Conference will be held Wednesday, January 20 on the Cornell University campus in Ithaca, NY.
Every year the Outlook Conference sends participants home with fresh information on prices, production and market trends, and government programs affecting the diverse fruit, vegetable, wine and grape, and dairy sectors of New York State agriculture.

Highly respected Cornell experts in these fields, including Bradley Rickard and Miguel Gomez, will take the lead on this year’s sessions on specialty crops. Professor Steve Kyle will offer insight into what's driving economic growth, fiscal and financial trends, and employment rates. Dr. Jenny Ifft will share her analyses of what's happening in the state and regional agricultural economy and highlight particular trends and issues that are shaping our region. Dyson's Andrew Novakovic will work with University of Wisconsin dairy market analyst Mark Stephenson to see if dairy markets are ready to be revitalized in 2016.
Registration and more details are available on the Agricultural & Food Business Outlook Conference website. Early bird rate registration ends January 4!
