Science on the GO! aims to bring dynamic and engaging science shows, events, programs and teaching resources by providing primary and secondary school staff and students access to Griffith’s innovative STEM facilities, resources and expertise.

Science shows

A dynamic and highly engaging feast of science. The Science on the GO! show encourages student participation and engagement with the Australian Curriculum: Science, through a series of mind-blowing moments. An ideal way to introduce a new unit or consolidate student learning. Demonstrations duration can be tailored to suit class timetables etc.

STEM Squad - applications open now

We are seeking current Griffith University students who have a passion for Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics and would enjoy engaging with local school students and members of the public through science-related, hands-on activities.

The Science on the GO! STEM Squad provides a fantastic opportunity to get experience delivering fun, engaging, hands-on programs to primary and secondary school students in the fields of Science, Technology Engineering, and Maths (STEM).

Science Competition

Showcase a passion for STEM and provide a valuable experience for your students.

The Gold Coast Schools Science Competition aims to raise the profile of STEM in our community and encouraged students to demonstrate their STEM abilities by entering a project into one of five categories. The competition is the largest of its type in Queensland and the competition is fierce with over 500 entries received in 2023.

‘Beverley and Jock McIlwain Award for Excellence in Science’

The ‘Beverley and Jock McIlwain Award for Excellence in Science’ is awarded to students and a teacher who have demonstrated outstanding achievements and enthusiasm in Science throughout the year.

We are inviting nominations from schools for the following student awards:

  • First Nations STEM Student Excellence Award ($50 Prize)
  • Women in STEM Student Excellence Award ($50 Prize)
  • Student of STEM Excellence Award ($50 Prize)
  • Teacher of STEM Excellence Award ($500 Prize).

Cutting Edge Professional Learning Day

The Cutting Edge for Teachers Professional Learning Day aims to provide engaging lectures and workshops by Griffith University academics, research scientists and science leaders to explore current developments in science, technology, engineering and mathematics while enhancing student engagement and learning outcomes in a classroom setting.

The Cutting Edge for Teachers event  will occur on 3 December 2024 at Griffith University's Gold Coast campus.

The Primary Science and Engineering Challenge Day 2021 held at Parkridge State High School engaged over 250 primary students in science and engineering activities.
