| | As our MPI New England year and my year as President comes to a close, I have a mix of nostalgia and excitement. My theme for our Board of Directors has been “Keeping the Members in Mind”. I’ve witnessed this theme lived out, month after month, by our Board and our committee members and chapter partners. I'm hopeful our members and guests have experienced that firsthand. | Here are a few key efforts during the 2022-2023 year I'd like to celebrate. | that support that theme | - This year’s Board of Directors and committee members have lived into the idea of radical hospitality for our monthly in-person events. We define radical hospitality by viewing our event venues as our homes, our attendees as our guests and are genuinely welcomed, and that no guest should be standing alone (unless they want to!) ensuring connections are made and our New England event and hospitality community is strengthened.
- Speaking of in-person events, let’s celebrate the 11 successful events our hard-working committees executed this year: from membership meet-ups where folks learned about the chapter, the committees, and getting involved, to our August and March networking events where we get to socialize with friends new and old, to the most unique educational meetings the chapter has ever executed, to one marvelous holiday party, to partnering with PCMA New England for Global Meetings Industry Day, to our renowned Educational Institute at the SeaCrest resort in November. Events with attendance getting back to pre-COVID levels and all with key connections and memories made.
- From a membership metrics perspective, we celebrate that MPINE is 281 members strong as of today! Over the past year, 87 new members joined our chapter; our Membership committee works with those folks during MPI 101 learning sessions, connects with them at monthly events, as well as facilitates their getting involved with a committee, if they choose.
- Another key member metric for this year is a staggering 171 renewals- I'm particularly excited about that number because those are industry professionals who understand the personal and career value of their membership to both MPI Global and to their New England chapter.
| To anyone reading this who’s thinking about joining this chapter, please take note of the work that we’re doing and will continue to do keeping the members in mind. Don't hesitate to connect with me or any other chapter volunteer for more reasons why we ourselves are members, and why MPINE can benefit you. | As for the end of the year, our fabulous leader and member champion, Kate Page, ends her time on the Board this year as Immediate Past President. This, after years supporting us on the Board, the members, and the MPI organization. Thank you, Kate, for all the time, talent, and treasure you put forth and we will see you around town!
I move now from nostalgia to excitement, because I'm lucky enough to hand the reins of President over to my friend and fellow MPINE champion, Hollie Herrick. Hollie is an eventprof and New Englander through and through. She’s been a continual force of positivity and support to this chapter and this Board of Directors in particular. I cannot wait to watch as her leadership and intellect guide this chapter forward! | Many thanks to the BOD2223, committee volunteers, vendor partners, and members for an incredible year I’ll never forget! | Sincerely, | Marjie | Immediate Past President | |
