PRESIDENT'S CORNER
Happy Fall! The 2021-2022 MPI year is underway, and the team is doing a phenomenal job of planning how to best engage this amazing community. We have been lucky to have a few months back meeting LIVE in person and are looking forward to the Fall programing —particularly the November 22-23 Educational Institute at Mohegan Sun . Registration opens October 1.
Though it seems hard to believe we are here already, we are beginning to create our Slate Committee to start thinking about next year and the leaders who will sit around the table and shape the future of MPI New England.  Joining the Board is an opportunity that has affected me in so many ways both personally and professionally. Personally, I have made friends that feel like family. Professionally, I have gained leadership skills that I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to hone without MPI.  I know it sounds rather overdone, but I’m telling you — volunteering with MPI, particularly on the board, is such a rewarding experience.

If you are a member of our MPI community, please reach out to me with any questions you might have about joining the board or just becoming a more active member. There are so many opportunities to get involved. If you are currently unemployed, think about how a new volunteer opportunity can provide new skills that will add to your resume. You all give so much to MPI New England, I want to find out what we can give back to you!

DEI CORNER
Submitted by Yolanda Gonzalez
Our September Membership Meet Up is a time to strengthen and build our alliances, both new and old.
During my three years at MPI New England, the greatest learning experiences I’ve had have come from volunteering in a committee. Volunteering has also helped me get to know different people.
I encourage you to grab a new friend and join any committee! Currently, I’m Chair of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee — which I believe is my greatest challenge yet. But I love it!
What has diversity allowed you to do?

ENCOURAGING HEALTH STATISTICS
According to a recent study, people are dramatically less likely to contract COVID-19 at a business event than by simply performing day-to-day activities such as grocery shopping. In fact, research shows infection rates at business events were as much as 95% lower than the average across the U.S. over the mid-August time period. The report found that risk of infection at business events was as much as eight times less than the surrounding metro area where the meeting was being held.
The findings are the result of a research
