AdvancED Idaho Accreditation External Training Coming in June
Important regional trainings are being offered by the AdvancED Idaho Managing Office for those schools who are scheduled for an External Review during the 2015-16 school year.  Building administrators and other school staff members who will have primary responsibility for the internal review are strongly encouraged to attend one of the day-long sessions that start at 9:00 a.m. and end at 3:00 p.m.

The goal of the training is to provide all of the information necessary to conduct a successful review experience for the host school and the External Review Team.  Participants also will have an opportunity for hands-on experience with the AdvancED Adaptive System of School Improvement Support Tools (ASSIST™) and to learn how to use the Goal Builder to enhance the continuous improvement process.  All of the sessions will be led by Dale Kleinert, AdvancED Idaho Director.

Administrators and teams can choose to attend any of the regional trainings if there is a date conflict in their home region.  A registration fee of $75 per person will be assessed to cover lunch, refreshments and materials for the workshop.  We welcome school teams to attend this training at a reduced fee of $50 per person for teams of three or more.   Click on your region to register.

Maintaining Effort:  Accreditation Progress Report
Idaho institutions that hosted an External Review in 2012-13 and other institutions with a certain accreditation status are required to complete an Accreditation Progress Report by April 1, 2015.  All of the institutions have been contacted and instructions have been provided to complete this requirement.  Some of our institutions already have completed the requirement and others are in progress.  If your institution is required to complete this requirement and you need assistance, please contact the AdvancED Idaho Managing Office at your earliest convenience.  The Accreditation Progress Report engages the school in a detailed review and analysis of the steps it has taken to address the Opportunities for Improvement and Improvement Priorities (formerly called Required Actions) documented by the External Review Team.  Completing the report helps the school focus and reflect on its continuous improvement efforts.  After engaging all school stakeholders in meaningful dialogue, agreed upon goals, objectives and plans with timelines will become an important component of the report.  This step is required for continued accreditation and is a component of the five-year cycle that is completed two years following the External Review.  You can find additional information and resources by visiting the Accreditation Resources and Tools for Schools page online.  If you need assistance with locating this information, please contact our office.
AdvancED Idaho Council Update
The AdvancED Idaho Council met on October 20-21, 2014, to review all of the updated school profiles and Executive Summaries that were required for ongoing accreditation.  A summary and/or recommendations was provided to all accredited schools that completed the 2014-15 annual requirements.  The summaries were mailed to all accredited schools during the month of December.  The school administrator may update information in ASSIST, pertaining to the recommendations, at their convenience. We would like to sincerely thank all of our schools for their attention to this year’s accreditation requirements.
Idaho State Department of Education Partnership
AdvancED and the Northwest Accreditation Commission (NWAC) have a long-standing partnership with the Idaho State Department of Education (ISDE).  Greg Alexander, Director, Statewide System of Support at the ISDE is a member of the AdvancED Idaho Council.  Regular communication is an important part of our relationship, in fact, we meet regularly with Mr. Alexander and School Choice Coordinator, Michelle Clement Taylor, to ensure that we are providing the most effective and efficient service to our accredited schools.
Idaho's Transition to AdvancED Status
At the end of the 2014-15 school year, sixty percent of Idaho’s accredited schools will have completed their first External Review using the AdvancED Protocol.  In addition, many more school administrators have served on External Review Teams and have extensive knowledge of ASSIST--the foundation of the AdvancED continuous improvement process.

This year alone, fifty-one Idaho schools already have or will host External Reviews.  Our Lead Evaluators and host school administrators spend quality time preparing each school and External Review Team for a successful experience.  From preparation to  the final steps of the External Review, the peer review process is handled professionally with careful attention to detail that provides the host school with meaningful information to guide the continuous improvement process.  We would like to extend a special thanks to all of those schools who hosted an External Review and to those who served on External Review Teams.
Get eleot™
AdvancED is pleased to offer the Effective Learning Environments Observation Tool™ (eleot™) to schools and school systems ready to take their continuous improvement efforts to the next level.

Whether or not you have experienced the power of eleot™ during an External Review, considering embarking upon the accreditation process with AdvancED or seeking eleot to use as a continuous improvement tool for your classrooms, eleot is the perfect tool to take your continuous improvement plans to the next level.  We continue to hear how schools are impressed with the valuable data gathered through classroom observations using eleot and how excited they are to use this data for school improvement.

The eleot application now can be purchased by your school or school system for use in any classroom at any time.  As an eleot administrator, you’ll have access to each of your licensed schools, including the ability to upload teacher rosters, assign observers, conduct observations, view reports and download observation results for each of your schools.

If your school system receives Title I, Title II or School Improvement grant funds, you can leverage these resources to implement eleot as a powerful tool for professional development, peer learning and continuous improvement.  School licenses that include training are available on an annual basis for $400 with special pricing available for multiple buildings within a school system.  Please contact AdvancED if you are interested in purchasing, licensing and training for eleot
