The School and District Improvement Steering Committee has been meeting this year to work on the redesign of the School and District Improvement Plans; the Consolidated Application; and the Program Evaluation Tool. The design of the work flow and any reporting documents have been done without concern for a platform to expedite reporting.
The focus of the redesign work is on systems improvement, especially at the district level. Another goal is that the annual work plan only be four to six pages in length – a real improvement over the current 30 to 150 page plans. This will free up district and school staff from the work of crafting a plan to the work of implementing the plan-- another focus of the Steering Committee.
The Steering Committee recently saw a demonstration of the diagnostic tool, eProve™, used by AdvancED network institutions across the world. In Michigan, approximately one-third of all public schools are members of the AdvancED Improvement Network. Intermediate School Districts and charter authorizers also utilize the platform. The eProve platform is designed as a continuous improvement tool allowing schools and districts to customize their use of the tool.
The eProve platform brings AdvancED Improvement Network members together in a single work space aligning the language and the work for schools and systems. It offers various tools to support improvement and provides methods to determine student engagement – one of our Top 10 in 10 strategies. The Steering Committee will consider other platform options.
