On Monday, November 18, Dr. Jim Harris, Associate Director of the West Virginia Autism Training Center at Marshall University, will kick off the Michigan Department of Education Fall School Improvement Conference with a keynote presentation, "Supporting the Whole Child in a Complicated World."  Dr. Harris has presented at a variety of local and international locations on topics such as behavioral intervention, parenting, positive behavior support, trauma-informed care, and organizational change. There will also be breakout sessions from school- and district-level practitioners and educational experts. 

Tuesday, November 19, will feature Michael Fullan, O.C. speaking on the conference theme, Meeting the Needs of the Whole Child through Systemic Thinking.  A worldwide authority on educational reform, a prolific, award-winning author whose books have been published in many languages, and an advisor to educational leaders in helping to achieve the moral purpose of all children learning, Mr. Fullan is the former Dean of the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education and Professor Emeritus of the University of Toronto.

The 2019 school and district improvement reporting tasks are now assigned in ASSIST™.  Lead administrators and heads of institutions received a memorandum from the MDE outlining the reporting requirements for the 2019 reporting cycle.
