AdvancED and North Dakota Partner on the Use of AdvancED Surveys

On November 1, the North Dakota Department of Public Instruction (NDDPI) successfully launched AdvancED Student Engagement Surveys to support statewide continuous improvement and accountability. A steering committee of 50 representative stakeholders from across the state identified student engagement as a vital factor of student growth. North Dakota is the only state that selected student engagement as a non-academic indicator for the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) plan. The measure of student engagement will be included as an indicator on school dashboards. AdvancED is proud to support this important activity.

A cross divisional/departmental NDDPI and AdvancED team worked closely to address the needs and plans for the implementation process in order to launch surveys for all students and provide support for schools and systems. Special congratulations are extended to NDDPI and the ESSA steering committees for their innovative leadership in driving authentic and meaningful continuous improvement decisions for the students of North Dakota.
