Don't Miss the MDE Fall Conference

The Michigan Department of Education has scheduled their annual Fall School Improvement Conference on November 17-18.  Additional information is available on their conference website.

Education Entity Master

Schools with a new administrator must be sure that the information is changed in the EEM (Education Entity Master).  Administrator names are updated in ASSIST via the EEM.

ASSIST 6.2.0

If you would like a brief overview of the new features from the recent release, please be sure to check out the release notes in the ASSIST Updates section of the AdvancED/MDE page.

Did You Know?

The due date for the School Improvement Plan and the District Improvement Plan are different because the legislature determined the dates.  School Systems are able to set an earlier date than September 1 if they wish.

New Administrators

Schools with a new administrator must be sure that the information is changed in the EEM (Education Entity Master).  Administrator names are updated in ASSIST via the EEM.

Climate and Culture Information

For those schools interested in culture and climate tools a new and revised Healthy School Action Tools (HSAT) site has been launch. The site is very user-friendly and has all of the information a school building or district should need.  Also, please note that the Office of Coordinated School Health and Safety Programs has a School Climate survey available on the School Health Survey system. A brief descriptor is available.  Finally, the Health and Safety Diagnostic (HSAT) will be removed from ASSIST. Schools will no longer have to do this Diagnostic in ASSIST.

New Frameworks

The State Board of Education approved both the School Improvement Framework 2.0 (26 indicators) and the District Improvement Framework 2.0 (10 indicators) on March 11, 2014. These new frameworks replace our existing SPR 40/90 and DPR 19. Schools will be assigned the School Systems Review (SSR) 26 items, and school systems will be assigned the District Systems Review (DSR) 10 indicators.  School/School Systems Reviews, and School/School System Process Guides will follow to help guide your school and school system improvement teams' in conversations to complete the 2014‐15 new diagnostic in ASSIST.
