From the Director's Desk

The Kansas State Board of Education (KSBE) has approved AdvancED as a vetted equivalent to the Kansas Education Systems Accreditation (KESA)! We’ve had to be patient, but they vetted us prior to finalizing KESA, so you could begin your work with AdvancED without further delay!

What does that mean to you? It means you can work only with AdvancED to meet your state accreditation requirements. Since KESA has not been fully developed, we’ll have to be patient a little while longer to finalize the logistics, but you won’t need to use the KESA needs assessment or Outside Validation Team structure – you can use ours! So do you still need to take the state assessments? Of course you do!

You may be wondering how this partnership will benefit your institution. The annual fees associated with access to AdvancED resources, include the following:

  • Our research based framework of continuous improvement is developed and updated every five years by national and international experts. It’s broad enough to allow you to customize it to meet the context of your system. We have solutions to help you meet your continuous improvement needs.
  • Our protocol for AdvancED School System Accreditation is a proven process. Next year, we begin a new and enhanced protocol for systems, along with protocols for schools, digital learning schools, corporations, educational service agencies, special purpose schools, and post-secondary schools.
  • A suite of continuous improvement surveys is available in multiple languages and customizable (items added to our surveys or you develop your own from scratch). Newest surveys include climate and student engagement surveys.
  • Professional learning opportunities and ongoing technical assistance provide just-in-time learning for you to move forward without delay.

You owe it to your students to check out all that AdvancED has to offer! Call our office at 620.960.5603 or email me to begin the conversation!

Best wishes,
Nancy
