 AdvancED WYO Prep Academy

The end of another school year is approaching. Schools living and breathing continuous improvement can look back and say, “Job well done!” Or possibly, “We will do this and that differently next year and here’s how….”

But how does a school “live and breathe” continuous improvement?  Engaging in the use of all of AdvancED’s tools located in the ASSIST platform goes a long way in getting the job accomplished.

If you have not accessed ASSIST this year, make it a priority next year.  Think about sending out surveys to see how stakeholders view your focus and progress toward school improvement goals. Consider performing a self assessment to gauge to what extent the school and school system are adhering to the AdvancED Standards for Quality.  Don’t forget to update the Executive Summary with this school year’s school and school system stories, to include notable achievements and areas for improvement.   And certainly schools and systems must update and adjust Continuous Improvement Plans.  Every year this plan is due November 1 along with the AdvancED Assurances.

Make continuous improvement a part of everyday business, every year!

Technology can assist in collecting and displaying school and school system evidence, not just when an External Review Team is being hosted, but year in and year out.   Organize appropriate evidence according to the five AdvancED Standards for Quality and Indicators by using either the school system’s or school’s own website, OneNote, OneDrive, DropBox, Google Drive, Weebly, Wix.com or any other free website that can be continuously added to and updated.   Gone are the days of notebook after notebook of evidence.  Digitize that information and share it!  Many schools and school systems make standard evidence information available to all Stakeholders.   This demonstrates their willingness to be open, transparent and informative.

Examples of evidence for each of the five Standards can be found on the AdvancED Wyoming webpage under Resources.  Please look for that helpful evidence example list and begin collecting and organizing evidence to show how great you are doing!

Back By Popular Demand: Heidi Hayes Jacobs

AdvancED Wyoming received so many requests for more information from Dr. Heidi Hayes Jacobs that she has been invited to return to Wyoming and tell us more!  Heidi will be the keynote speaker at this fall’s AdvancED Wyoming Continuous Improvement Conference.

The conference begins Monday, September 29. Dr. Jacobs will kick events off for us and also will remain with us Monday, conducting several break-out sessions.  We are thrilled to have Dr. Jacobs back!

Serve on an External Review Team in October

Want to learn more about the AdvancED Accreditation Process.  One of the very best ways to do so is to serve on an External Review Team.  If you are interested in doing so, email Geri Fitzgerald or call her at 307.399.9819. All Reviews will occur in October/November and will last Sunday through Wednesday or Thursday, depending on the school system size. This is great professional development. Preferential placement will be given to individuals working in school systems in Washakie, Big Horn, Fremont and Park counties.  Volunteer today!
