2016-2017 School Improvement Reporting Simplified

Over the past several years MDE has attempted to bring various federal and state requirements for school improvement together into one place. The Michigan School Improvement Process is a cycle that is the foundation to address school and district improvement and promote student achievement through a comprehensive and systemic approach. This improvement process will remain the same for the 2016-2017 school year; however, the submission of reports has been simplified.
There are two options for School and Single Building District plan submission:

These two options are available through the Improvement Plan Assurance that will be assigned as part of the School Improvement Plan and Single Building District Improvement Plan. This assurance is available on the Assurances tab in ASSIST.

It is important to note that the Michigan Continuous School Improvement process – Gather, Study, Plan and Do (which includes Implement, Monitor, Evaluate and Adjust) remains the same and is critical to realizing increased student achievement. Simplifying the plan submission process does not represent a departure from intentional, thoughtful, and data-based decision making and school improvement planning.
