Influence Skill Development in Environmental Monitoring
We would like to inform you of the opportunity to influence skill development in the environmental monitoring sector.
The Australian government has introduced a new arrangement for developing training products, giving industry a leading role in the national vocational education and training system.
To do this a number of industry reference committees (IRCs) are being established, these are made up of people with experience, skills and knowledge of their particular industry sector.
The Australian Industry and Skills Committee (AISC) is currently looking for expertise in Environmental Monitoring – Management to participate as part of the Sustainability IRC.
The focus of the Sustainability IRC is to review and develop the skills in the MSS Sustainability training package, which includes Environmental Monitoring and Technology qualifications.
These qualifications are used to help operations become more sustainable through improved productivity, efficiency and meeting their environmental responsibilities.

NanoRem
NanoRem (Taking Nanotechnological Remediation Processes from Lab-Scale to End-User Applications for the Restoration of a Clean Environment) was a research project, funded through the European Union Seventh Framework Programme (2013-2017).
The NanoRem project focused on facilitating practical, safe, economic and exploitable nanotechnology for in situ remediation. This was undertaken in parallel with developing a comprehensive understanding of the environmental risk-benefit, market demand, overall sustainability, and stakeholder perceptions of the use of nanoparticles (NPs).
Twelve NanoRem Bulletins have been created to transfer the knowledge developed within NanoRem to end-users. These are available within the NanoRem Toolbox, available at www.nanorem.eu, which provides more detailed outputs from NanoRem.

3. Auckland Branch have arranged a session with Dave Hansford author of "Protecting Paradise: 1080 and the Fight to Save New Zealand’s Wildlife". He is bound to have insights on the challenges that face environmental practitiioners.
4. Vapour Intrusion & Ground Gas Special Interest Group have pulled together a series of forums utilising the expertise of Ian Hers from Golder & Associates, Vancouver - on "Developing Guidance for Soil Gas". These will be a slightly different style, and run in Auckland, Melbourne, Adelaide and finally in Sydney - with webinar facilities made available where possible.
