2018 Outstanding First Peoples Alumnus
Delvene is a proud Nunukul, Ngugi and Goenpul woman from the Quandamooka region of South East Queensland. Her family are from Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island and Moorgumpin) and Moreton Island – Quandamooka Country.
One of her biggest commitments in her life and work is ensuring to preserve and tell the story of her culture and country. She had an amazing opportunity to do this when she was given the prestigious task of designing the medals for the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.

Thanuj Goonewardena
2018 Outstanding International Alumnus
Thanuj has 29 years’ experience in hospitality, planning, design, and construction of hotels. Before studying at Griffith he was literally packing his bags to continue his education in Salzburg when a friend of the family convinced his parents that Griffith University on the Gold Coast was the best choice for him.
Having just completed a five-year work-study diploma at the Sri Lanka Hotel and Tourism School at the time, Thanuj says he was looking for a well-rounded learning experience.
