Dean Newsletter FeatureMay Highlights with Dean Prabhudev Konana

“It’s been an exciting month, particularly for the undergraduate program! There’s been so much interest in the new Integrated Business Honors program, and over 200 students applied for 60 IBH slots. We will admit our first cohort of Smith Business Leadership Fellows in May. We are set to launch an undergraduate program on computational finance in fall 2022, and despite a short window of marketing we received applications from 25 extraordinary CS students. We expect to formally propose a minor and a major in computational finance with CMNS soon.”

Jeron DavisJeron Davis '15 - Navigating Finance for Resiliency

From selling crayons for change in elementary school to investing in the stock market in the 9th grade, Forbes 30 Under 30 recipient Jeron Davis ‘15 has always had a passion for business.

Davis credits his time at Maryland Smith as a dual degree finance and information systems student for instilling the drive, motivation, and resiliency in him that led him to the Forbes 30 Under 30 nomination.

“Obviously you want to be the best candidate you can be from a data standpoint, you want to shoot for that 4.0 GPA, you want to be involved in extracurriculars, you want to network, you want to check all of the boxes,” Davis said. “But, resiliency and the ability to experience failure and still push on is what is really going to make you successful.” Read Jeron's full story
