Everything is in bloom this month at the Mizel Museum, from the lilac bushes in the yard, to the canvases in the art room, to the candles on our 30th birthday cake! This month artist-in-residence Siona Benjamin joins us for three dynamic and artful programs, and we'll celebrate our 30th anniversary at the Annual Dinner Gala on May 23. Seats are still available!

Artist-in-Residence: Siona Benjamin

A series of dynamic and artful programs May 17, 18 & 20Siona Benjamin

Siona Benjamin is a renowned, New York-based painter originally from Bombay. Her work reflects her background being raised Jewish within Hindu and Muslim cultures. Her paintings combine the imagery of her past with the role she plays in America today, blending ancient forms with contemporary pop cultural elements, creating a vocabulary of her own.

Salon Night - Faces: Weaving Indian Jewish Narratives, Thursday, May 17

Siona will discuss her Fulbright fellowship project and research travel to India. Sponsored by the Young Adult Department of the Allied Jewish Federation of Colorado and the Institute of International Education.

The Art of Shabbat, Friday, May 18

Join us for a Mizel Museum signature Shabbat dinner. This one will offer a unique flair, with vegetarian Indian food paired with colorful conversation with Siona.

Miniature Painting Workshop, Sunday, May 20

Explore the intricate, colorful tradition of Indian miniatures. Delve into the work and influences of contemporary artists born in South Asia who are now living in the West, and whose inspiration is often drawn from ancient cultures.

African Heritage Celebration 6th Annual Dinner & Silent Auction

Friday, June 22, 6-9pm at the Hyatt Regency Denver

Painting with Boris Shoshensky

Restorative Hatha Yoga

Enjoy a gentle, strengthening, restorative yoga class in the peaceful and inspiring setting of the Mizel Museum's exhibit. Classes are held on Wednesdays from 4:30-6:00pm. Price per class is $18; pay at the door.


Jewish Meditation with Rabbi Stephen Booth Nadav

Sundays, May 6 & 20, 4:30-6pm

Jewish meditationMeditation is the practice of making ordinary moments sacred, or finding the sacred in the ordinary. Join Rabbi Steve to develop the skills of Jewish mindfulness including meditation instruction, chanting, walking, Torah and text study. All levels and backgrounds welcome.
