Each November, the Greater Wichita Chapter of AFP celebrates National Philanthropy Day and the generosity of our city. As part of this celebration, extraordinary people and organizations in our community are recognized for making a difference and creating a lasting impact. P.S. - This year we are excited to have Professor John Trybus of Georgetown University as the presenter for our professional development session the morning of the National Philanthropy Day celebration. John is a story scientist on a mission to help change makers around the world create and tell more effective stories that bring their missions and vision to life. In January, your professional development committee has a fun program to ring in the new year. “The AFP Film Festival: A Sampling of Non-Profit Videos” will be at the Wichita Art Museum from 3:30-5 p.m. Thursday, January 9th. Come and see some examples of inspiring, heartwarming and clever fund-raising and stewardship videos and hear from the professionals who envisioned them! Now comes the part where we need your help (other than attending the event in 2020): Nominate your favorite local video, from your organization or another’s, which tells a story, tugs at the heartstrings, makes you laugh or just is a really good example of how to do fundraising right! We are looking for capital projects, program and thank you videos from organizations large and small across our chapter. To nominate your organization’s video, or another one you adore, e-mail Lynette Murphy at lynette.murphy@wichita.edu.
