Program update

The program for the National Housing Conference 2013 — a new way home continues to develop in exciting ways, with sessions and themes taking shape. Contemporary thinking and practice in financing social outcomes, market-design, client-centred service delivery, DisabilityCare and the demand for housing, urban place-making, economic development and Indigenous housing will be at the core of the program, and we have confirmed a number of high profile national and international expert speakers including:

Mr David Bowen, Chief Executive Officer, DisabilityCare Australia is the lead speaker in a major concurrent session on client-centred service delivery, DisabilityCare and the demand for housing. David has been actively involved in development of the disability reform program as a member of the Independent Panel advising the Productivity Commission regarding the feasibility of a National Disability Insurance Scheme.

International experts Dr Peter Gutner, Chief Economist, Swiss Housing Bond Issuing Cooperative (Switzerland) and Mr Piers Williamson, CEO, The Housing Finance Corporation (UK), who between them have many years of experience in the UK, US and European financial markets. These two leading international experts in social housing guarantees will offer their insights for an appropriate Australian model.

Professor Kath Hulse, Swinburne University of Technology will lead the conversation in a major concurrent session looking at the supply side of affordable housing. Professor Hulse will be joined by a panel of social housing experts to debate how the 'supply' side of the sector needs to develop to meet growing demand.

Make sure you continue to check the program online to find out more about our confirmed speakers and session formats. We will also be releasing session profiles in the coming weeks, giving you more detail on the topics and objectives of some of our major conference sessions.

With a rich program continuing to develop and some wonderful opportunities for networking and socialising, we look forward to you joining us in Adelaide for our biennial gathering of the housing clans.
