Winder safety: Releasing from a nip
Lifting devices for releasing a person from the nip between the shipping roll and the winding drum include the lifting cushion, a hydraulic spreader and wedges. This article describes the use of the lifting cushion. Rescue personnel should test different types of rescue equipment ahead of time in order to determine the best possible equipment for each situation.
