Juneteenth

• June 19, 1865, Union general Gordon Granger declared slaves are free in Texas and slavery in the US is abolished; however, Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation on January 1, 1863. So for almost 2 more years, slavery was still enforced in Texas. Please take a look at the military order below:

• In honor of Juneteenth, MPI St. Louis will host an “After-Five” on 6/20 at Prime 55, located inside of Le Meridien St. Louis Downtown. Please note: Prime 55 is the first black-owned and operated restaurant inside of a St. Louis hotel in general and/or a Marriott brand in St. Louis.
