PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

This year is flying by, and I can’t believe it is November already.  With the holidays right around the corner, this is the busiest time of year for many of us.  In October, we had two amazing events. First was Coffee and Credentials where we had over 30 participants interested in information on IFMA’s CFM, FMP, and SFP credentials. If you were unable to attend the event, please let the Professional Development Committee know as they are here to support you in any way. The second was Bingo for Bones featuring our first Chili Cookoff.  This event supported three amazing local pet adoption groups: German Shepherd Dog Rescue and Adoption Service, Best Friend Pet Adoption, and Vets to Vets United Inc! The Chapter was able to raise $1600 for each of these adoption groups.

As mentioned earlier with this being a busy time of year, we have several events in November and December to highlight.  We have the Fenton Tour on Thursday, November 3rd which is a joint event partnering with BOMA Raleigh-Durham that filled extremely quickly. Next, we have our annual Member Appreciation event at the Angus Barn on Thursday, November 10th beginning at 6PM.  I am looking forward to the Angus Barn as this is by far my favorite event of the year.

On Wednesday, December 14th, we have a Panel Discussion around Workplace Experience, Strategies, and Trends supporting return to office with industry thought leaders from HR to Interior Design to Corporate Real Estate. If there are any specific questions you would like to ask of the panel, please send to our Chapter Administrator so we can add to these to the discussion.  Last, but certainly not least, we have our annual Toys for Tots Shopping Spree on December 6th, and you can contact the Community Outreach Committee with any questions.

Thanks to all who helped coordinate these events.  It is greatly appreciated!

2022 IFMA AWARDS OF EXCELLENCE

Awards of Excellence 2022 Logo

At the most recent World Workplace in Nashville, Tennessee, IFMA recognized the stand-out achievements of both individuals and chapters with the annual Awards of Excellence.

Awards of Excellence nominees are scored individually across a variety of category-specific criteria by judging panels comprised of industry experts. In addition to recognizing exceptional contributions to the association by individual members and component groups (chapters, councils, and communities), IFMA honors outstanding examples of facility management (FM) initiative with the George Graves Award for Facility Management Achievement and the Sheila Sheridan Award for Sustainable Facility Operations and Management, and creative projects/practices with the FM Innovation Award.

This year, the Greater Triangle Chapter of IFMA brought home the award for Web Communications. This award is a culmination of efforts designed and undertaken to increase awareness of chapter activities post-pandemic. Coming out of the pandemic, it has been important to the chapter to reengage our members and remind them of their benefits and events. Updating our website to include the most up-to-date information and sharing information via social media have been key components of the communication strategy.

Under the leadership of Nicole Stetkiewicz and Betsy Clark, the 2021-2022 Communications Committee, comprised of Penny McGhee and Hubert King, developed a social media strategy geared toward educating existing members and attracting new members. Within eleven months, the LinkedIn page gained 377 followers, and the chapter created over 180 posts. The website was reviewed, broken links were fixed, and pages were updated with the input of each committee. With the collaboration of other committees, the chapter added a mentorship page and updated the advocacy day, professional development, and chapter information pages, to name a few.

IFMA NATIONAL FREE MEMBERSHIPS & DUES INCREASE

Since the beginning of this year, our membership numbers have grown by nearly 10% to 232 members. Membership in 2013 was at an all-time high of almost 350 members. As the Triangle continues to grow with existing companies expanding and new companies moving to the area, we recognize the opportunity to bring in new members.

The Greater Triangle Chapter of IFMA has five memberships we want to give to deserving Professional Members. This membership will include membership in IFMA National. The catch is that this must be a new member, and we must get them signed up by year end.

If you know of someone who would benefit from joining the Greater Triangle Chapter of IFMA and IFMA National, please submit their names and contact information to membership1@ifmatriangle.org or membership2@ifmatriangle.org on or before Friday, November 11th!

IFMA Membership Dues

IFMA National supported members throughout the pandemic by providing the education and resources needed to manage facilities effectively. They also made a conscious decision to not raise Natoinal dues in 2019, 2020 or 2021. The IFMA National board has approved an increase to IFMA National base membership dues in 2023. Members will be informed of the increase when they receive their initial renewal email.
