In this presentation, you will learn how range of ability, asynchronous development, over-excitabilities and thinking styles can change the trajectory of your child’s daily life at home and at school. Because differently-wired kids are NOT just fine on their own. Contrary to mainstream opinion, giftedness is not a ticket to Easy Street.  It is a complicated topic that doesn't respond well to sound bites.  This is where BVGT programming and education helps. Giftedness can also be uncomfortable to discuss.  It can sound elitist, exclusive, too different in our one-size-fits-most society.  But we NEED to call out our giftedness, even if it doesn't actually feel like a gift.  Different is not better.  Different may mean more intense, more emotional, more intellectual, more asynchronous.  For those with learning disabilities, things become even more challenging. The gifted label matters.  So does hard work, Yes? But some gifted kids are so intense they'll work themselves past the point of exhaustion just to get "it" right.  Perfectionism can have a downside. A tough lesson to get across when one is admonished to develop grit. Being gifted is not a choice. But your membership in BVGT is. Renew today!

Parent Liaison Network

Do you like to build connections and facilitate communication? Have you considered being a BVGT Parent Liaison?

BVGT Parent Liaison Network provides a conduit between BVGT and local schools as well as provides support to school personnel and parents. Our goal is to have a liaison to each school community--including independent schools and homeschooling groups. If you don’t know if your school is currently represented, please ask!

The task list seems small for our liaisons: 
*meet together and with others at your school,
*exchange information, and
*build connections.

The impact is potentially mighty, however:
*a network of well-informed and engaged parents,
*increasing numbers of parents and educators who know about and access BVGT events, and
*strong and productive partnerships within school communities.
