Congratulations to Griffith Alumni student, Mohit Tolani
Awarded as the 2018 Australia Post National Winner of the Pride of Australia Award
|
Dr Mohit Tolani is a dentist who currently works in Dapto in regional New South Wales. Over the past few years, in addition to undertaking full time studies and research work, Mohit combined his healthcare interests with ethnic diversity. His career began while working in regional Victoria where Mohit taught himself to drive the big van that was kitted out as a dental surgery.
Along with a dental assistant nurse, he'd head out to places where it was difficult for people to access the dentist. In 2013, Mohit led an international project of Oral Health Literacy aimed at reducing the inequities in healthcare and in 2018 introduced the 'smiling community program' in Dapto, providing free dental care to marginalised communities and oral health care to those with limited access. Mohit continues to serve, lead and contribute to the growth of dentistry within his community. |
