The Division's Mission

The mission of the Division of Continuing Education is to support individuals and organizations that seek to accomplish more. The Division does this by serving as the link between the needs of the community and Georgia Southern University’s nationally-recognized academic resources. Basic Conversational French

Basic Conversational French is an introductory course that will help develop your listening, reading and writing abilities. As you grow in your knowledge of the French language, you will be able to greet new people, talk about yourself, plan activities and so much more!

Basic Lightroom and Photo Editing

October 28 - November 13, 2019 • Mondays and Wednesdays
Armstrong Center • Georgia Southern University

In this introductory class, students will learn how to retouch, organize, adjust, correct, export and share images in Adobe Lightroom. We’ll explore the technical and visual considerations of the software through a combination of hands-on exercises, detailed demonstrations and classroom discussion. Through instructor-led and self-guided practice, students of all levels will learn to use and discuss the elements of art and the principles of design. Students will also discover their own artistic preferences and develop valuable photo editing skills.

Advanced Conversational Spanish
October 29 - December 3, 2019 • Tuesdays
Armstrong Center • Georgia Southern Armstrong Campus

Advanced Conversational Spanish will help Spanish learners create more complex sentences to build their conversational skills with native and other non-native Spanish speakers. The course will dive deeper into forming paragraphs, listening for meaning, and even learning about Latin and Spanish cultures!

ServSafe Manager Certification Course
November 12-14, 2019 • Exam: November 16, 2019
Armstrong Center • Georgia Southern Armstrong Campus

This 8-hour curriculum, led by a certified instructor, will teach you about food safety codes and practices and the importance of personal hygiene, as well as precautions for avoiding cross-contamination, food-borne illness, and how to prevent both by implementing time, temperature, cleaning and sanitation practices. Earn your nationally accredited, ServSafe food safety certification from the National Restaurant Association! Our certified instructor will proctor the exam during the Saturday session. Before the exam, there will be a review to give you a refresher on everything you’ve learned.

GATA Self-Defense

GATA Self-Defense for Women
November 21, 2019 • 6-8 p.m.
Nessmith-Lane Center • Georgia Southern University Statesboro Campus

Learn to use your body, voice and wits to handle confrontation, command your space, and get yourself to safety!

GATA Self-Defense for Women is designed to build your confidence and provide the skills you need to defend yourself during an assault. Focusing on self- and situational awareness, you’ll gain knowledge on body language, other non-verbal warning signs, and physical techniques—including when, where and how to use them.

This course is taught by the former chief of police for the Statesboro Police Department, Stan York.
