Yankee rebuild improves tissue quality,
a case study
A mill was very reluctant to undertake a major rebuild of their Yankee dryer. First, OSHA issued a series of administrative directives and regulations that made it very difficult to perform a rebuild that required lock-down entries. Second, rebuilding Yankee internals would require significant, costly downtime. This article walks through the rebuild analysis process and describes how and why the mill chose to move ahead with the rebuild.
