October 2021 Newsletter
Dear Members and Friends,
As we move ever closer to a more normal personal and working environment, we are getting a great sense of renewed energy and purpose from our members. The governments clear regulation and guidelines have been instrumental in enabling businesses to plan more proactively for the rest of the year and as we all look to our strategy for 2022. We already feel a great demand from our sponsors and members to go back to live events so that once again we can foster new and existing relationships to support our business ventures and opportunities.
Already this year we have focused on the biggest topics on everyone’s agenda, such as Sustainability, Transforming Work and Healthcare. Not to mention the introduction of some industry round tables for Marketeers and Healthcare professionals. The engagement with high level speakers and panelists gives our events the right framework to discuss cross industry topics, to inspire our attendees to action and to share best practice. Like most companies and organisations we have had to challenge ourselves with some big questions in order to deliver what is right and what is necessary for our members. How many events can we organise live, hybrid or in person only? What are the risks if we engage high class speakers and then not be able to deliver? For every event we had to have a robust plan B to ensure that we were able to bring continued value to our members.
The BSCC flagship event Sustainable Business Summit on 14th October was a real highlight of our event programme. With almost 200 attendees and 19 speakers and presenters we created a hybrid event that enabled key discussions amongst leaders in business and finance exploring ways in which we can make a critical difference to building a sustainable future.
COP26 in Glasgow, bringing together almost every country for a global climate summit, is soon on the horizon and our influence as a membership organisation and as an important stakeholder is essential – every single initiative counts and we as a Chamber are committed to playing our part.
We are already in preparation mode for 2022, so please stay tuned for upcoming announcements about our programmes in all 9 chapters. Of course we still have a number of events this side of Christmas, and we encourage you to check our website to see what is around the corner.
I very much look forward to meeting you in person during one of our upcoming events. Please do not hesitate to contact me to discuss any topics in the meantime.

The normalisation of stock exchange relations between Switzerland and UK within a month of Brexit has been a great example how Financial Centres that connect can thrive.
Trading mechanisms that increase efficiency by reducing costs at time of transaction are important to contribute positively for long term investment returns.
London Stock Exchange Group’s Turquoise is a trading venue that offers additional ways to buy and sell, complementing those of SIX Swiss Exchange.
Since re-admission of Swiss securities onto Turquoise on 4 February 2021, Clients, from day one, used Turquoise to trade CHF 27.2 billion of Swiss stocks of which CHF 12.7 billion matched at midpoint saving investors half the bid-offer spread.
Swiss securities have been active every day via Turquoise Plato Bock Discovery, our award winning block trading innovation. Roche was #1 and Nestle #2 in February 2021 and ranked #4 and #7 overall for the period to 30 September 2021 by value traded among the most active securities of all 19 countries traded via Turquoise Plato Block Discovery – evidence that investors consider Turquoise innovations a value-added source to their investment process.
