We recognise that the development and recognition of individual staff members' learning and teaching capabilities can support innovation and transformation. Several initiatives are underway to support staff, including implementation of the Griffith Learning and Teaching Capabilities Framework and the launch of new annual performance review processes – Academic Staff Career Development (ASCD) policy and procedures.
To help prepare for the ASCD conversations, we invite academics in learning and teaching roles to join a short, experiential workshop. In the workshop you will practise using a series of prompt questions, aligned with the ASCD plan, to guide a collegial conversation about learning and teaching. We will use the Griffith Learning and Teaching Capabilities Framework to introduce a shared language, as you explore the learning and teaching capabilities needed to reach goals and engage in a cycle of professional learning and career development.
This workshop is part of an action research process to enhance the quality of supervisory conversations about learning and teaching goals and capabilities. We welcome your participation as co-researchers.
Workshops for supervisors
Similar workshops are also being held for academics who are currently in supervisory roles. If you supervise colleagues in learning and teaching roles, we invite you to attend one of the workshops for supervisors. Find out more.
