Message From the President
As the dull winter comes to a close, we find ourselves eager for transformation. The changing season brings vibrancy that rejuvenates our spirits and motivation. Spring is a season of new beginnings which energizes us to take on new projects and initiatives. For many of us, it's as simple as coming out of hibernation to begin an exercise plan after the holidays or maybe its catching up on some much needed spring cleaning. Click here to read more.

It's Not About the Meatball: Constructive Conversations that De-Escalate Conflict
Human resource professionals are often called upon to have difficult conversations with employees. Some of these conversations go well, and the problem is solved. Others can escalate quickly and the employee may turn to litigation or destructive self-help methods to get what they need. This program will provide a unique perspective that will help you have conversations that are de-escalating and help build stronger work places. |
This program has been approved for 1.25 hours of HR (General) HRCI Credit, and is eligible for 1.25 hours of SHRM Certification Credit.

HRMA 2016 Mentoring Program
The HRMA Mentoring Program is preparing to begin our Spring class. For the last seven years, we have had both spring and autumn launches for our program, each time creating partnerships focused on helping HR professionals grow their careers. While the formal program is for 12 months, we have had several partnerships go on longer, with one mentor saying, "It's fulfilling to share my knowledge and experience with someone who is so enthusiastic about learning... We have developed a relationship that will continue beyond the program." Click here to read more.

HRMA Young Professionals Kick-Off - March 31st
Calling all HRMA Young Professionals! HRMA's newly-founded sub-group, HRMA Young Professionals (HRMA-YP), is hosting its inaugural kick-off happy hour on March 31, 2016. The goal of HRMA-YP is to connect those with similar interests and experiences through additional opportunities that complement the wonderful HRMA programming that currently exists. Many Young Professionals have fewer than 10 years of experience in the HR field or are under 40 years of age, but we welcome all who consider themselves a young professional to join us.
At the event, we will announce and discuss some of our future programming, including continuing education, volunteer opportunities, and social/networking events. We will also do a round of speed networking so you will have a chance to get to know your HRMA-YP colleagues!
Please mark your calendars and plan to join us on March 31st to enjoy food, drinks, and networking! Click here for more information and to register.

Ignite the Leader in You!
By Molly Marroquin
HRMA's theme this year is "Ignite the Leader in You!" If we are igniting our leadership, what will be our match? Where can we get that spark? One great place to start is by thinking of the leaders who have made a positive impression on your life. What are the qualities in other leaders whom you most respect? No two leaders are the same, but typically you'll come to find that there are certain aspects of their leadership that are aligned with others who have a positive impact. Click here to read more.
