Business, Higher Education, and Heathcare Heads to Capitol Hill for Federal Research Funding

The Northern Virginia Chamber joined business groups as well as higher education and healthcare institutions on Capitol Hill last week to make the business case for investing in federal research funding. The Northern Virginia Chamber has been one of more than 80 chambers nationwide that are members of the Business for Federal Research Funding coalition. An initiative led by the Greater Boston Chamber, the coalition recognizes the incredible economic impact that federal research grants can have on a region and its business community. In fact, for every $1 invested in research at medical schools and teaching hospitals, $2.60 of economic activity occurs. The chamber joined the coalition on Capitol Hill last week to emphasize with leaders that it's time for the government to step up and support research and development the way they used to in decades past.
