Message From the President
John Marino
Greetings HRMA Members! I hope your June is getting off to a fantastic start!

It has been a phenomenal 2017 so far and we are looking forward to continuing our excellent programming with the Summer Symposium Series. The first symposium kicks off June 21st at Fontbonne University with a presentation on "Crucial Conversations" by Kathy Haskenhoff. We hope to see you there! Click here to read more.

June 21st Symposium - Crucial Conversations
A crucial conversation is a discussion between two or more people where the stakes are high, opinions vary, and emotions run strong. These conversations - when handled poorly or ignored - lead to strained relationships and dismal results. Join us for the first symposium of the summer and learn more about Crucial Conversations!

HRMA would like to spotlight its members for these achievements on social media and/or the newsletter. Send nominations that you have to communications@hrmastl.org to be considered!

July 19th Symposium - Diversity & Inclusion Difficult Conversations
Amy Narishkin
You know that awkward moment? We've all lived it. That moment when you or someone you know feels tongue-tied talking to a person of a different race or culture? Imagine the scale of impact on corporate growth or innovation. Our knee-jerk reaction, to minimize or not even acknowledge differences, may seem like go-along-to-get-along, but it actually undermines individuals as well as corporate productivity. Think you don't face these issues because your work culture is homogeneous? Differences not only include race but nationality, gender, age, previous work experience, and even the divisions between departmental mindsets like operations versus marketing. Get ready to experience Intercultural Competence.
