HRMA's Third Annual Full Day Leadership Conference was a Huge Success!
HRMA’s third annual full day Leadership Conference was a huge success! It was held on Friday, October 30, 2015 at the Ameristar Casino Resort Spa in St. Charles, Missouri. This year’s conference, themed "Change Doesn’t Have to be Scary," was packed full of informative sessions. The keynote speakers, both from St. Louis, provided the perfect opening and closing messages encouraging the membership to be innovative, forward thinkers.

Many thanks to our conference chair, Molly Marroquin, and the Planning Committee, whose time and effort spent were evident the day of the conference. Also, without our sponsors, the conference would be difficult to host as part of the annual schedule vs. charging an exorbitant fee to provide the same quality program. We were fortunate, this year, to have eight gold sponsors, seven silver sponsors and 27 bronze sponsors. And we know attendees spent good quality time with the sponsors to learn about their products and services.

The leadership of HRMA hopes that you were pleased with the content as well as the logistical details of the conference and welcomes any and all feedback to use in the planning of next year’s conference!

Welcome Our New Members!

On October 14th, a St. Louis City judge blocked an ordinance that would raise the minimum wage in the City. The city is appealing the decision. Click here to read more.

In early November, the Missouri Court of Appeals vacated a $1.5 million punitive damages award against a parent company in a discrimination case. Click here to read an analysis co-authored by HRMA member Jessica Liss.

A divided Missouri Court of Appeals recently held that sexual-orientation discrimination is not prohibited by the Missouri Human Rights Act. The case may be appealed to the Missouri Supreme Court. Click here to read an analysis of the co-authored by HRMA Newsletter editor Andrew Metcalf.
