THE PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Joe Auricchio
President

HELLO ALL VSHE MEMBERS!!

Time is flying and things are happening.
In October, we had a one-day safety conference in Fredericksburg, VA. Those who attended said the day went very well. The panel discussion on “workforce development” highlighted the need we all feel for good employees. We are planning a return visit October 2018 for another day of training. Stay tuned for a firm date.

Planning for the annual conference in May is well under way. This year we will be at the Roanoke Hotel and Conference Center from May 7-10. We will golf at the Ballyhack Course at the end the week. Those who follow golf know that this is a great course. Those who do not, will find out when they play. The conference committee is working on great keynote speakers and new education sessions. We are also working toward having more time in the vendor area, as well as new bingo cards and prizes. Registration will open at the end of January 2018….this month.

VSHE has also started to spread our wings. We are now talking to other organization about workforce and the future of skilled trades. Associated General Contractors (AGCVA), SkillsUSA, the Dept. of Education, and Tradecrews.com are helping us with this initiative.

Becoming a better organization does not happen because one person does a lot. It happens because a lot of people do a little. We are looking for volunteers to help us with organization and planning. If you or someone you know would like to help, send me an email so we can talk. joseph.auricchio@vcuhealth.org   Together, we can all make VSHE better tomorrow than it is today.

MEMBERSHIP UPDATE   Jerry Baker
Membership Chair
Jerry Baker2017
Membership has its privileges…

The VSHE Membership continues to grow in numbers across all of our districts. What is it that attracts our members and brings added value to their career and professional development? Whenever I ask someone why they joined our organization they usually respond with an answer that pivots on one of the following points:
1. Education- Our members like the fact we provide them with educational programs to gain industry knowledge and gain CEU’s throughout the year.
2. Professional Networking- The peer to peer relationships provide our members with the opportunity to share knowledge and experience.
3.  Advocacy- Our members want, and need, to know the latest trends and changes associated with regulatory standards and best practices.
Take a few moments to introduce a friend or colleague to VSHE and encourage them to get involved so they don’t miss out on the value and benefit of being a VSHE Member.

Regards!

The Benefits of ASHE Membership

As a member of VSHE, we encourage each of you who are not members of ASHE to consider joining. In the complex field of healthcare facilities management there is only one organization that speaks for us in all forums to include certification organizations, CMMS, and Code and Standards organizations: And that is ASHE !! In addition to advocacy, ASHE also is a leading source of education and certification programs in healthcare facilities. ASHE also conducts two national training sessions each year: (1.) the Planning, Design and Construction Summit in the Spring, and (2.) the Annual Conference in the Summer. These are truly one-stop meetings for all things “healthcare”. Please consider joining this great organization that represents our field.
