October is National Disability Month!

A great online resource for HR professionals dealing with disabled employees is called the Jobs Accommodations Network (https://askjan.org/) (“JAN”).  If you have questions about reasonable accommodations for employees with disabilities in the workplace, this website provides tons of practical information, support and resources.  For example, JAN's Searchable Online Accommodation Resource (SOAR) system is designed to let users explore various accommodation options for people with disabilities in work and educational settings. If you do not find answers to your questions, you can contact JAN directly and speak to a consultant.    JAN is a service provided by the U.S. Department of Labor's Office of Disability Employment Policy to assist employers and individuals in complying with the Americans With Disabilities Act and related issues.

Legal Links is now a regular section providing useful links to employment law resources. This information is provided by MAHRA Members Andrea Chatfield, Esq. of Cook, Little, Rosenblatt & Manson and Jim Reidy, Esq. of Sheehan, Phinney, Bass, & Green.

MAHRA's New Charitable Partner
The New Hampshire Food Bank, a program of Catholic Charities NH, is incredibly grateful for our newly formed  partnership with the Manchester Area Human Resource Association (MAHRA.)  This partnership will provide us with the opportunity to educate additional businesses and individuals around our efforts to alleviate hunger and break the cycle of poverty for so many across New Hampshire,” said Mel Gosselin, Executive Director of the NH Food Bank.

Since 1984, the Mission of the New Hampshire Food Bank has been to feed hungry people by soliciting and effectively distributing grocery products and perishable foods, and offering innovative programs through a statewide network of approved agencies; by advocating for systemic change; and by educating the public about the nature of, and solutions to, problems of hunger in New Hampshire.
