Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti signs the pledge. |
Recognizing the power of cities to change the landscape of aging, we are asking U.S. mayors to sign the Best Cities for Successful Aging: Mayor's Pledge. So far, more than 60 mayors have signed, committing city planning and resources toward making cities work for an aging population. The pledge makes it clear that older adults should have the opportunity to work for the betterment of cities. They can improve the lives of all generations through volunteer activity and encore careers across the government, nonprofit and private sectors. Next month we will release an update to the Best Cities for Successful Aging Index. See the 2012 index here. |
