Midwest investors with eyes on Wisconsin to kick off Nov. 16-17 Early Stage Symposium
A panel of Midwest investors who represent new funds with a combined total of more than $200 million in assets under management will launch the 2016 Wisconsin Early Stage Symposium in Madison. Investors from Lewis & Clark Ventures in St. Louis, Hyde Park Ventures in Chicago and MATH Ventures in Chicago – all relatively new funds with a Midwest focus – will speak during the opening session of the conference on Wednesday, Nov. 16, at Madison’s Monona Terrace Convention Center.

What the ‘feds’ want: Priorities in health IT topic of Oct. 18 Tech Council Innovation luncheon
Stephen Konya, senior innovation strategist for the U.S. Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT, will offer an overview of federal priorities related to healthcare information technology at the Oct. 18 meeting of the Tech Council’s Innovation luncheon in Madison. The ONC leads the administration’s health IT efforts. It is a resource to the entire U.S. health system in terms of supporting the adoption of health information technologies, and also promotes the nationwide exchange of health information to improve health care.

An independent report on “The Value of Higher Education to Wisconsin’s Economy” will be discussed by the president of the University of Wisconsin System and the head of the Wisconsin Technology Council at the Wednesday, Oct. 19, meeting of the Tech Council’s Innovation Network in Appleton. UW System President Ray Cross will be joined by Tech Council President Tom Still for a discussion about how Wisconsin can better capitalize on higher education’s economic benefits, which range from supplying talent to carrying out research that can create intellectual property, commercial products and companies.
