President's Message
Welcome to spring everyone!
Please join us for the annual Mike Bradley Golf Tournament at Lochmere Golf Course on Wednesday, April 27. We have extended signing up for sponsorships through April 8. The main purpose of our tournament is to raise money for academic scholarships for students in facility management programs. Please consider sponsorship if not already involved!
Your Board met recently with our very own Michael Schley, IFMA Fellow – IFMA Foundation, Global Workforce Initiative. We are working hard to address the Facility Management talent gap. Did you know the following?
- The need for FM professionals is growing worldwide due to the aging workforce
- FM is a well-paid profession that cannot be offshored.
- There is nearly a 100% job placement for people graduating with an accredited FM degree
Should you have any Chapter suggestions or ideas, please reach out to me or anyone in leadership.
Randy Rabon, President 2015-2016

May Tour and Social Save the Date
SAVE THE DATE for a tour of the unique and innovative 21c Museum Hotel Durham on Wednesday, May 18th beginning at 4:00pm. The history of the building is fascinating and the art is breathtaking. The 4 star 21c Museum Hotel Durham is located in The Hill Building, at 111 North Corcoran Street, Durham. The 17-story modernistic skyscraper was built in 1935 and was once known as the SunTrust Building. In 2013, Kentucky-based 21c Museum Hotels bought the Hill building from Greenfire Development for a reported $5.25 million and redeveloped the property into a 125-room boutique hotel and art gallery with construction being completed in July 2015. During this tour, we will pay special attention to the building’s historic features which have been preserved including the Art Deco-inspired elevator lobby with marble walls, terrazzo flooring and silver leaf vaulted ceiling as well as the historic banking hall with its soaring windows, original wood paneling, vault and safety deposit boxes on the lower level. In addition, you will be able to see the beautiful artwork for which 21c Museum Hotel Durham is quickly becoming known.
The committee is finalizing the social plans and registration will open thereafter.
