Greetings! Hope you are all staying warm - it's hard to believe that January is already over, and we will be well into February by the time we meet. February 21st Annual Legal Update
|
Always one of the most popular programs of the year, the HRMA Annual Legal Update will begin with Rex Fennessey of McMahon Berger, Sheena Hamilton of Dowd Bennett, Ferne Wolf of Sowers & Wolf, and Falon Wrigley of Armstrong Teasdale giving the keynote presentation. Afterwards, members will have the opportunity to break into roundtables headed by a local employment law attorney. Members will rotate tables three times, after spending 30-minutes at each table, giving members the opportunity to hear a total of three different topics of their choice.

Missouri HR Day of Service
|
We are very pleased to announce that our second annual Missouri HR Day of Service is set for May 4, 2018! In addition to our fantastic partnership with the National Association of African-American Human Resources Professionals (NAAAHR), Missouri SHRM will be joining the effort this year! Human resources professionals from across Missouri will be volunteering to help their communities. We are so excited to have our fellow MO SHRM chapters participate in the Day of Service! More details on volunteer opportunities to follow, but please mark your calendars for May 4, 2018!

Looking for employees? Saint Louis University and the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis are partnering to sponsor a career fair to help ex-offenders to find work. The "Partnership for Success Career Fair" is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., April 10th, at SLU's Chaifetz Arena, 1 N. Compton Ave. HRMA St. Louis will be at the fair to review resumes - mark you calendar and plan to attend. Click here to read more.

2018 SHRM Certification Exam Prep Study Course

SAVE with HRMA. HRMA is excited to continue a SHRM Certification exam preparatory course. Our professional instructor will cover the three domains and modules covered in the SHRM HR competency course, and there will be opportunity for valuable learning through peer discussion. The intensive study sessions begin Monday, March 5, 2018. The special HRMA member pricing for the study course is much lower than other area SHRM certification courses. Angie Schaefer Goes to Washington
|
SHRM's Advocacy Team (A-Team) regularly consults about the workplace and advocates for employers by promoting beneficial legislation. HRMA St. Louis Past President and Missouri Lead Award winner, Angie Schaefer, has worked with the advocacy team for a number of years. In early December, Congress called on Angie to testify on behalf of SHRM and offer SHRM-developed H.R. 4219, the Workflex in the 21st Century Act. See article here.

HRMA's Day on the Hill
|
SHRM advocates on the local level as well. Missouri SHRM State Council members, including a number of chapter Presidents, participated in the Missouri Day on the Hill on Wednesday, January 31st. Past HRMA St. Louis President, Jim Paul, and SHRM Director of Congressional Affairs, Lisa Horn, provided education prior to the visits. This was a great opportunity to let our leaders know that we are available and ready to offer input when needed.
