Female Financial Empowerment: Event Brings Women Together to Talk Money
On June 6, the Women in Business Series sponsored by Matthews, Carter & Boyce (MCB) and Eagle Bank held its first event of 2019, “Female Financial Empowerment: Knowledge is Power.” Held at the MCB offices in Fairfax, the event was a combination of networking and an engaging discourse where women shared tips, best practices and personal stories. Guest panelist and WTOP contributor Dawn Doebler, principal of The Colony Group, started the conversation with an astounding statistic: 80% of women die single, while 80% of men die married. It’s a fact that women don’t typically talk about money, but at this event, women encouraged each other to be more open, ask questions and educate themselves. “The more you know, the more informed your decisions will be,” said MCB Principal Kathleen Flaherty.
Contact MCB’s Andrea Ansell at aansell@mcb-cpa.com to learn more about the Women in Business Series and upcoming events.
